7 Signs Your Body Is Fat Burning
Do you want to get thin quickly? Let’s start by making yourself a fat-burning machine. By becoming a fat-burning machine, your metabolism will be more flexible and your body will automatically regulate the energy your body needs to burn glycogen and fat.
Training your body to burn fat requires you to first reduce your sugar intake and then increase your fat intake. However, the adaptation period is different for everyone, some people will have a more extended adaptation period and some people will have a shorter one. So, how can you tell when your body is fat burning?
Signal 1:Reduce hunger and enjoy fasting
When the body burns fat, it enters a state of nutritional ketogenesis.
In this state, you don’t feel intense hunger or have cravings for carbohydrates or sweets; you enjoy the fast state and don’t eat because of cravings.
Signal 2:Can easily diet and skip a meal
Fat burning is a steady source of energy supply, unlike when eating carbohydrates, especially simple carbohydrates like sugar, whose energy seems to fluctuate greatly. When you lower your carbohydrate intake and adapt to the energy supply from fats, you have a lot of fat in your body ready to be burned.
Keto also suppresses hunger, and you can easily skip any meal while your body uses its fat to give you energy without any problems. This is known as intermittent fasting and is easy to do with one meal a day or two meals a day as you adjust to fat feeding.
Signal 3:Craving fat
When your body is adapted to fat as energy, your body is in a fat-burning ketogenic state, so when you are low on energy your body craves fat and no longer sugar.
Many people who enter a ketogenic state find that they no longer love sugar or staple foods; instead, they can’t get enough of salmon when they see it.
Signal 4:Emotionally stable
Without the large fluctuations in blood sugar, the blood sugar is smooth and natural, and the anxiety and food hunger irritation associated with low blood sugar are gone.
Keto bodies can alleviate various psychological problems such as depression and anxiety, and many people have improved chronic anxiety and depression as well as other psychological problems after low carbohydrates and adapting fats to provide energy.
Signal 5:Quick thinking and mental clarity
As you get used to the supply of fat, the keto flu subsides and you soon feel the many benefits of producing ketone bodies, which are excellent fuel for the brain, after the fat has been burned.
Data from many studies have found that ketone bodies can enhance memory, concentration, and task-shifting abilities in older people, among other things. And, in another study, it was found that too much glucose slows down brain function, cognition, memory, and more.
If you feel faster and clearer after a few weeks of sticking to a low-carb ketogenic diet, it’s likely that you’ve adapted to fat as energy.
Signal 6:Increase exercise endurance
In 1980, sports researcher Steve Feeney and his colleagues found that adapting fat for energy improved the body’s endurance capacity. The study design was simple: untrained, overweight individuals were placed on a high-carbohydrate diet for a fortnight, followed by a calorie-restricted keto diet for six weeks. Phinney and his colleagues measured endurance performance and fat oxidation capacity before and after the diet change.
The participants burned more fat and ran longer in the keto-adapted state compared to the high-carb state. If your body adapts to fat for energy and fat becomes the primary fuel for exercise, you can preserve glycogen (stored glucose) for a longer period. When extra fuel is needed at the end of a long or intense workout, this is when glycogen comes in handy and becomes a secondary component rather than a primary one.
For exercise enthusiasts, an increase in endurance is also a good sign that your body is adapting to the energy supply from fat.
Signal 7:Reduce body fat, especially visceral fat
Once you have adapted to fat-burning mode, your metabolism will learn how to burn adipose tissue (your body’s fat) for fuel as soon as you need energy. Weight loss after about a month on a low-carb diet may be a sign that you have adapted to fat-burning mode and that your body is making good use of body fat to fuel you. Your body fat, especially your visceral fat, will drop quickly.
